After about eight trips to Folly, I finally got to Woody's Pizza! I have to say, I was delightfully surprised. Let's be honest, there isn't a huge demand for pizza when you are two blocks from the edge of the world. Everyone has seafood and boat drinks on the brain. My bride and I spent eight days there so we were able to get a good sample of what Folly has to offer. One night we walked down to Woody's expecting basic pizza but hopeful. I'm a foodie and I just like to try new places so it was bound to happen. Much to my surprise, this was a great pie. In fact, it was well above the average pizza found in our hometown of Charlotte. We had a four topping pie split for what we wanted. It was hot, cheesy, and they didn't short us on toppings. It really was great. The next day, we both had some cold pizza and it kept exceptionally well and was some of the better cold pizza I've had in a while. If you have time to check it out, it shouldn't disappoint. Our key with places like this is go head straight to the heart of the menu. If we waste time trying to hope for a diamond in the rough appetizer that ends up letting you down and filling you up... you won't be happy. Go straight for the pie and eat up!

Very good, very large pizza for a very low cost. Greek salad was awesome, too. Service was a little slow, but who cares? (You're on Folly, enjoy the slower pace of life!)

Worst pizza and calzone I've ever had in my life. This includes Jack's frozen pizza and the slices at the roller skating rinks of my youth. Also the hotel pizza I had in Cancun when they used jarred Ragu instead of sauce. The sausage tastes like undercooked, plain, ground turkey. The pepperoni is barely flavored as well. I can't believe the cheese is real cheese. The thing that really blows my mind is that you have to try to make pizza this bad. I know cuz I've made it. What are they doing and why?! Bleh.

The wait staff was friendly and the ambiance was fun. Unfortunately the pizza was mediocre and overpriced. The kids did enjoy the staff's suggestion of trying honey on the crust and it's by the beach, so we'd go back if we're ever in the area.

Wonderful last minute lunch. Food was great. Unique idea with the honey for the crust. My wife will never forget that concept. On vacation you look for something to set apart your eating experience, and something so simple helped. Overall, I would eat here again . The food isn't out of this world, but the experience is. Welcome to Folly Beach! Food- *** 1/2 Beer- *** ( Not much local, just Palmetto Amber) Experience- ***** Entertainment- **** (world cup on and James Brown on the julebox, Pinball Wizard game machine)

Decent pizza. Limited beer selection. I love the atmosphere, very beachy. Lots of TVs for watching sports. AND a Tommy pinball game.

Woody's Pizza is delicious. The wait for the hand tossed pizza was a tad long for my stomach's liking but some nicely herbed (that's a word, right?) breadsticks held us over. The house salad was generously sized and yummy..if you're into salad at a pizza place! We had a split of the veggie and the white pizza. So good. The slices are humongous and I ended up carrying almost the whole pizza home. There is a porch dining area with live music some nights and dogs are okay on the porch. The inside is a small area with a full bar and about four or five tables. Fine for kids if they aren't too keen on running around and are containable. All in all a sweet setup!

Last night, I called in a takeout order for a Delta Pie (feta, spinach, kalamatta olives, banana peppers, and mozzarella). They were accommodating to my request to substitute the olives for bacon which was awesome. Upfront, I was told it'd be about forty-five minutes (I called the order in about 9:15pm on Saturday so I get that they were busy). Unfortunately, they don't seem to have enough parking so I ended up parking illegally in a church lot for a few minutes. The pizza was ready when I arrived which was good. I liked the ambiance of the place (a bar and a few tables inside, several tables outside under a covered roof). The pizza itself was good... lots of tomato sauce and generous portions of toppings.

Pizza was delicious and staff was great!!! Everyone enjoyed their selection (8)total in my party. Very cute location. Will definitely come back to when in area!!!

The pizza is pretty good, not the best pizza you have ever had in your life but pretty darn good, everything else on the menu is above average but just, the service can be a bit on the slow side but good people, the deliver is not fast, just giving fair warning, fun place, would give 3 and a half if possible, they lost the half star from me when they stopped having Siracha available :-(

Decided to go here for carry out. Ordered two different types of piZza. often pizza places - even with coal ovens - get messed up because they under-cook it or burn it. Then DO NOT have this problem here and they have very fresh ingredients which enhances the entire experience. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way during pickup to give me great service. I will return here in the future.

I created a Yelp account specifically for this purpose: DO NOT GO TO WOODYS. The pizza is sub par and I've never experienced a more rude waitress in my entire life. The woman with the tattoos up her leg and down her arm was downright mean to us and proceeded to talk to the manager/ bar tender in woodys shirts about us as we were paying. We are here vacationing with family and it is completely unfortunate that we had to be treated so poorly at our first stop on Folly Beach (for the first time). Here's a tip woody's: you're in the service industry. Hire people who like people.

The service was awesome, but then we sat at the bar. Super, super nice bartender who was working her ass off. Brown hair, cute hair cut around her face. Mak at the bar said she's been there for 10 years. Cold beers and accommodated us by putting the Giants game and Warriors game on two diff tvs. Pizza- hmmm, it was very salty because they put green olives AND kalamata olives on the pizza. Good thing we added pineapple to counter all the saltiness. If it wasn't so salty, it wouldn't be bad. Kind of light on the toppings. It's the kind of pizza you have to eat with a knife and fork. Warning: the 18" is a very large pizza. 14" would be better for a couple.

  • Karen L.

Food was ok, but the angry white trash bartender waitress was a total bummer. Uggghhh Just be nice.

I can only rate the food and not the restaurant as my wife and I ordered delivery. The pizza we had was outstanding. I highly recommend this place on Folly if you get a craving for pizza.

Delicious! Finally a good pizza place in charleston. Limited inside seating but lots of picnic benches outside. Didn't get to try anything else but the menu has everything you would hope for at a pizza place

Good pizza, good music, good drinks. Simple. Oh yeah, puppies to boot. Thanks Britney!

I like Woody's! Its a really chill place, right on the beach, and its cheap! A pizza slice as big as my face is $2.50! I always get a few extra toppings though so its like $3.50, but still, its the cheapest place to eat at the beach! It isn't the best quality, but you can't complain about the prices! And randomly,if you save your crust for last and pour honey on it,its a sweet treat after! (It's actually super good)

My boyfriend and I ate dinner here based on reading reviews. We were not disappointed! We both ordered a beer and were given water as well. The wait to get our food was reasonable and we got to sit outside on the deck which was wonderful. Our waitress was busy but kept checking in on us. We ordered an 18" Woody pizza. It was incredible!! The toppings were fresh and the crust was thin and crispy. They had honey at the table so I put some on my crust and was pleasantly surprised. Would go back again on our next visit :)

Big slices! Amazing pizza. Two thumbs up! Comparable with good NY PIZZA!

  • Justin S.

We ordered carryout, but it was a great experience nevertheless. Cordial, prompt service, really cool/quaint/unique little place. AND... The pizza was great (the Woody), but don't sleep on the meatball sub; it was huge and delicious.

  • Sandy B.

If you are looking for flavorful pizza, full service bar and friendly service this is not the place. Also very overpriced. The atmosphere is cute. The night I was there with friends they had live music. So depending on the band it's best to stay listen to music but don't recommend eating there.

Absolutely not 4* pizza. I love pizza, especially NY style pizza by the slice. Many different places have different takes on pizza by the slice, and they all have their merits. This was not good pizza. There was hardly any cheese on my slice. The area Around the crust was about 95% sauce, about a half inch into thepizza itself. Sauce was not very flavorful either, most national brands exceed their sauce in the flavor department. No one out of our party of 5 was impressed. The staff was real nice and the setting was pretty good. I wouldn't post this if the reviews were more accurate, but 4* ?!? I'm not picky about pizza, most of the time most anything is good enough, but this didn't even reach that level.

  • Chuck M.

Who can screw up pizza? Woody. That's who. It arrived hot and fast enough, but the pizza lacked flavor and the crust had an odd taste to it. The white pizza was totally flavorless and, as my son said, "disgusting!" My wife had a Greek salad that was just ok. We through the white pizza away. Two barely edible pizzas and a salad for the bargain price of $42. Do yourself a favor, skip a meal over paying for this flavorless mistake.

Yum! Great local place. Try the pesto pizza and the local draught beer.

  • Jeremy P.

I dunno, maybe some of you guys were there on a very very off-day. I've been in a few times now for a quick slice and damn, I'm happy with em. A good NYC sized slice fills mah belly. Sauce is right on, sweet and tangy. And $2.50!? Amazing- I can have a beer and get out of there for 7 bucks. Nice laid back bar inside this little spot with a great lil covered porch for the nice weather. I'm a fan.

  • Ashley R.

Well super rude we walked by with our family asking to order just a slice or a pie which ever was easier. They laughed at us and said they weren't severing. And we walked away. As we were sitting on the corner for a few minutes trying to figure out where to go next we see another group walk up and order pizza and get severed... Been coming here for a few years never been a problem. Will never go back

Love grabbing a slice before hitting the Folly bar scene. Small, cozy place with good outdoor seating and always worth hitting up again for late night juke box dance parties with Folly locals.

  • Anthony L.

Okay this is the only town where people can still smoke inside. Had to take our pizza to go because of all the smoke and lack of ventilation. They do have picnic tables but was too cold. Pizza itself was "okay". Good enough but not spectacular.

  • Mark L.

Woody's is a bit of a local beach goers favorite. A nice place to have a good pizza or sub or have a few beers or drinks before you start the Folly crawl. The staff is fun loving and very energetic and happy almost all the time. Add in a kicking jukebox and you have a good night down on Folly Beach.

    (4)
  • Jessika G.

Pizza is really great but you can smoke inside - that was the killer for me! Otherwise, if you get the pizza to go you're in the money.

    (3)
  • Christie B.

Pizza was surprisingly great! I say surprisingly because a.) I've found that pizza in the south is a bit hit or miss, and b.) the place was a bit of a dive, so I didn't know what to expect. We got a white pizza with tomatoes and it was pretty darn awesome. Also, a Grateful Dead cover band called The Reckoning was playing when we were there (Labor Day evening), and they were a lot of fun!

  • Jeff S.

These people produce a truly great pizza at a fair price and they deliver too!!

This place has some of the best pizza around... It's definitely worth going here if you are on the island!

  • Isabelle G.

A true beach hangout, we ordered the white pizza at our server's suggestion and drizzled it with honey (also at his suggestion) and I was amazed at how good it was! We gobbled it all up and ordered another one to go because it was just that great

  • Brian R.

Woody's has the best pizza I've ever had and it is often my first meal when I visit Charleston. The bright red building welcomes as does the energetic owner, Todd. I like the white pizza with the home made Italian sausage, peppers and onions. Can't wait till next time!!!

    (5)
  • Josh A.

Pretty good pizza and decent subs. I remember when it was in a smaller place, that has since been demolished and was on the beach front. It's close to the beach, so access is easy.

  • Susanne S.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised! We had a Veggie pizza, half w/o olives and it was delicious! They also allow well-behaved dogs outside so we will definitely be coming back!

  • Philip G.

Not good for kids, well at least the not the night we had dinner there. Music was not age appropriate. We asked to skip a certain song but all they did was cut music to the outside where we were sitting. There was a group who had imbibed too much that spoiled the mood. Pizza was good but not anything special. Our waitress was very nice though. To be fair we may have gone on an off night. Would have given a 2 star rating but I'm sure it's normally better than the night we showed up.

    (3)
  • Brock L.

The pizza was good, the music was good, but the wait was bad. There were very few customers while we were there and we had to wait a LONG time for our food. We ate on the front deck and enjoyed it. We just didn't enjoy the wait.

  • J H.

Great pizza and staff. I will return next time I'm in town.

We have pizza night every Friday...which we continued while visiting Folly. The white pizza is to die for! The slices are huge. Probably one of the best pizzas I've ever put in my face. We will add them to the "must eat" list for next years visit!

  • Rich L.

Ate there on a Thursday Night with the family and just ordered a plain pizza with sodas and water. It took a while for the pizza to come out but was worth the wait. They kept our drinks filled and were very pleasant.

Good pizza not the best. Cold beer! Would go there again for pizza on folly because its the only pizza place!

If you're out on Folly Beach and your stomach starts to rumble, head directly to Woody's. Great pizza available by the slice and a myriad of toppings are what make Woody's exceptional. Yum. There's some pretty tasty subs available, too (try the Melnard!). A deck out front for outdoor dining makes it perfect for a post-beach party snack. NEWCASTLE on tap, too.

    awesome pie

  • Rob H.

I'm a bit of a pizza snob. While Woody's is not quite up to snuff with the best of the NY boroughs, they are certainly the best pizza shop in Folly Beach, and quite possibly the whole area south of the city of Charleston. Thus the four star rating (it might be a three elsewhere)! Fresh hand-tossed pies, a tasty tomato sauce (not sugary sweet like too many places around here), and just the right amount of toppings for those who like it supreme without overloading. And at $13 for an 18 inch pie, it's hard to beat the price. While they do deliver, they have a small indoor dining area and bar plus a good sized covered patio for those coming up off the beach. Plus root beer and cola floats and pints of Ben & Jerry's for dessert! Mighty fine!

Nice spot. Menu offerings are simple and superb -- pizza, subs, salads, cold beer. We sat outside and split a generous house salad and a 14" specialty pizza the delta pi. Crust was thin but moist in the interior of the pie. Not cracker thin like the Neopolitan style pies that seem to be all the rage now out West. Nice balance of sauce and toppings. The 14" yielded a good meal for two hungry guys. Service was efficient and the atmosphere casual and friendly. There was a really good acoustic guitar player serenading the porch with classic songs on the night we went. Nice job Woody's. Thanks!

Great cheeeeesy pizza. Thin crispy crust .Great beach hang out.Cold beer .Cheesy bread also awsome .Friendly servers.

We had to wait for 40 minutes for a pizza to go and a salad (we were the only customers). The waitress kept telling us it should be ready very soon, but gave up and apologized for our long wait, stating, "I don't know what happened." The pizza was greasy and had very sparse toppings. Almost no olives, but we were told by the waitress, "They're probably buried under the cheese." No dice. The salad was literally half-filled with those hard spines from the center of the lettuce leaf. The dressing was the consistency of sludge. All in all, it was disgusting and expensive. A waste of one of our precious vacation dinners. Perhaps we just showed up on an off night.

The pizza is the best in the entire Charleston area. I really like the sandwiches too. Great service, great place! A must when on Folly Beach.

Consistently good pizza. Seriously! Good price. Tiny place. Porch or to go...inside feels packed even when it isn't. Do this place.
